Demolition time

One big issue in Whyalla in 1991 was the proposed demolition of the old maternity building at the Whyalla Hospital: the McEwin wing. Various plans were put forward for uses for the old building, built in 1943, but in the end, and despite some fierce opposition, it was eventually demolished. Where the building stood is presently only a car park.
