The foreshore redevelopment was the big issue in 2005.
We never did get an AFL match in Whyalla, but the CRUSTY DEMONS show went well.
The housing boom was just getting going back in 2005.

The illegal dumping of rubbish in bushland around Whyalla has always been a bit of a problem.
This was all to do with the start of PROJECT MAGNET, and the need to transport ore by road through Playford Avenue. At the same time, the new foreshore development was suggesting traffic be diverted from Broadbent terrace past the beach, for no real reason other than to make people drive along the foreshore.
The City Council were thinking of relocating to the western part of town, but in the end decided to stay put in the City Plaza, but that it was OK for the Civic Library to be relocated at Westland. Incidentally, after initially proposing a shopfront within the Westland Mall, a site behind Westlands was eventually chosen for a new library complex.
